Company BackgroundThe Houston Dynamo Football Club (HDFC) is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting soccer participation and growth in Houston, TX and beyond. The Club’s brands include men's and women's professional teams - the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL), a development academy, Houston Dynamo Dash Charities, as well as Shell Energy Stadium and Houston Sports Park. The Club has a rich history, including MLS Cup titles (2006, 2007) and in-season tournament championships for both the Dynamo (2018) and Dash (2020) and is focused on building toward the next championships, inspiring and uniting the city of Houston through the sport of soccer and community outreach, and creating the most inclusive sporting experience and diverse fan base in the city and state.
PURPOSE OF THE JOBThis role is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies for the HDFC brands (Houston Dynamo, Houston Dash, Shell Energy Stadium, Houston Dynamo and Dash Charities, HDFC Youth Programs, etc.) focused on brand awareness, fan base growth, and generating revenue opportunities through partnerships, ticketing and retail. This role is essential to building the Club’s brand and attracting new fans with engaging marketing initiatives and timely, multi-faceted campaigns to help promote growth marketing objectives throughout the Houston area and beyond.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Create, plan and direct year-round marketing strategies and tactics that support club initiatives and strategic partnerships, evolve the brand, and grow the fan base.
- Build campaigns and promotional plans to support marketing initiatives, fan growth goals and brand buzz objectives; including copywriting, creative brief development, and execution.
- Collaborate with internal groups, including creative, partnerships, ticketing, PR, game presentation and community, to innovate and create concepts, programs, campaigns and content aimed at engaging fans and carrying targeted messaging to other key audience segments in our market.
- Build and execute fan engagement, branding, and database growth campaigns across a wide variety of mediums. Set strategic goals and segmentation strategies for effective post-campaign analysis and evaluation.
- Utilize data and analytics to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Foster relationships with a variety of partners, including fan groups, media, influencers, and alumni, to grow and deepen the organization’s reputation and engagement with key demographical and geographical segments where potential HDFC fans are present.
- Participate in MLS and NWSL led initiatives and serve as a liaison between the leagues and Club
- Help to create and deliver polished, compelling presentation materials on marketing strategies, event plans and recaps as needed for internal and external stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Communications or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience (or equivalent) in marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the sports industry.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing effective marketing strategies that drive business growth.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team. Experience in crafting compelling marketing messaging and campaigns for various audiences.
- Ability to create executive presentations to communicate marketing initiatives and results.
- Proficiency with the MS Office Suite and project management tools.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as the event calendar requires.
