McIlroy has racked up two wins and six top-10 finishes this season. He's also coming off a strong showing at the Olympics, securing a T-5 finish in Paris.
However, McIlroy missed the cut in his last start on the PGA Tour and he's struggled with accuracy this season. The four-time major champion enters the FedEx Cup Playoffs ranked 71st in driving accuracy (61.84%) and 90th in greens in regulation percentage (65.98%), which doesn't bode well for McIlroy's chances to finish on top of the leaderboard. Finau is a long ball hitter who's averaging over 306.9 yards per drive this season, which ranks 33rd on the PGA Tour. Finau also ranks second in strokes gained: approach to green (0.890) and 23rd in greens in regulation percentage (68.99%), which bodes well at a course like TPC Southwind. He's been extremely consistent in recent weeks as well, finishing T-8 or better in three of his last five starts on the PGA Tour.
